Don't miss these upcoming events about Codornices Creek!
Are you interested in helping to create an exciting educational place in a creek restoration area that will benefit the whole community?
Would you like the idea of a creekside trail that could include an outdoor teaching space, educational nature projects, and public art?
Come learn about how a once neglected waterway is being transformed into a natural creek channel in west Berkeley and Albany. Find out what the Codornices Creek Watershed Council is planning at this site to help create an inviting place for nature education serving the community. Project elements being considered include an outdoor classroom, a wall mural, and volunteer native planting opportunities.
For more information on the project, email: CodornicesCreekWC@gmail.com or contact Pam Boyle, at 510-759-1689.
Codornices Creek Watershed Council Meeting
The next Codornices Creek Watershed Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 24th
from 7 to 9 PM at the Albany Community Center, 1249 Marin Avenue in Albany.
We are postponing this meeting from our usual date of the second Wednesday in
order to be able to present the Final Designs for the Lower Codornices Creek
Stewardship Plan in full and in a larger setting close to the University
Village project site.
This will be your chance to learn about this exciting
project, including an outdoor classroom, interpretive elements, and
revegetation plans along this stretch of creek that is being restored by RDG
(Restoration Design Group) and the City of Albany.
There will be many
opportunities to get involved as the project goes into the actual
on-the-ground phase, so please join us for this meeting.
At the Council meeting, we will also be highlighting some proposed project
ideas to get involved in with the City of Berkeley later this spring and
summer, as the City moves ahead with developing a Codornices Creek Watershed
Plan. We will be looking for volunteers to get involved, get dirty, and
have fun while helping your creek and watershed!
We will post the agenda and directions here by March 15th.
If you want to volunteer to work with the Codornices Creek Watershed Council, please email us at codornicescreekwc@gmail.com or come to our next Council meeting (see agenda and directions above).
