Don't miss these upcoming events about Codornices Creek!
Are you interested in helping to create an exciting educational place in a creek restoration area that will benefit the whole community?
Would you like the idea of a creekside trail that could include an outdoor teaching space, educational nature projects, and public art?
Come learn about how a once neglected waterway is being transformed into a natural creek channel in west Berkeley and Albany. Find out what the Codornices Creek Watershed Council is planning at this site to help create an inviting place for nature education serving the community. Project elements being considered include an outdoor classroom, a wall mural, and volunteer native planting opportunities.
For more information on the project, email: CodornicesCreekWC@gmail.com or contact Pam Boyle, at 510-759-1689.

JOIN US FOR TRASH DAY July 31st
On Saturday morning, July 31st, we will be looking for a few
enthusiastic volunteers to
join us for a TRASH ASSESSMENT AND CLEANUP DAY on lower Codornices Creek,
working with the City of Berkeley (and Albany, TBD). This will
include a TRAINING in the protocol for scientifically assessing
trash, which has been developed by the Regional Water Quality Control Board and
by Santa Clara Valley Water District, followed by trash cleanup. This is
part of a Baywide program to address the issue of trash in our creeks through
regional and local stormwater management programs. As you may know, trash in
our creeks and in the ocean are becoming a huge environmental problem.
This is a great chance to get into the creek, learn
about trash (who knew it was a science?) and make a contribution to
cleaning
up the watershed and the Bay and ocean.
Please email us at codornicescreekwc@gmail.com if you are
interested.
Note that we will only have space for a small number of select
volunteers at this time, so first come, first served! Look for more
information to be send out in early July.
If you want to volunteer to work with the Codornices Creek Watershed Council, please email us at codornicescreekwc@gmail.com or come to our next Council meeting (see agenda and directions above).
